【Definition】/【Calculation Formula】
Apparent power is the product of the effective values of current and voltage. The effective value can objectively reflect the magnitude and capability of a sinusoidal quantity to do work.

The relationship between apparent power, active power, and reactive power is as follows:
where P is active power and Q is reactive power.
【Standard】
Apparent power is a measure of the power demand that an electrical device places on the upstream power supply. In other words, to ensure the normal operation of the power supply network, the external circuit must provide this amount of energy to the device. It does not represent the actual power consumed in an AC circuit but rather indicates the maximum power that the circuit can provide or the maximum active power that the circuit can consume.
【Application】
Most of our company's instruments, including the entire MA series, DZS series, and the majority of the MS series, can measure apparent power.
【Related Terms】
Active power
Reactive power
